October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

(10/01/2014)

Nevada consistently ranks amongst the states with the highest number of domestic violence homicides in the country.  Domestic violence thrives in silence, but working together we break the silence.  Throughout the month of October, you can help Safe Nest raise awareness about domestic violence and join in our efforts.  Here is what you can do:

  • #PassThePurple –Find your favorite purple item and post a pic of it, tag 5 of your friends and challenge them to post their favorite purple item and donate $10 to www.safenest.org. Make sure to tag @safenesttadc and #PassThePurple

  • Follow Safe Nest on Facebook (facebook.com/SafeNestTADC), Twitter (http://twitter.com/SafeNest), Pinterist (http://www.pinterest.com/safenestlv/) and Instagram (http://instagram.com/safenesttadc) to view and share our 31 days of awareness and healthy relationship tips.

  • Change your social media cover and profile photo to show you stand with Safe Nest as we remember those who have passed and those who are still living with domestic violence.

  • Wear purple on October 6 and tell people why you are raising awareness about domestic violence.

  • RSVP and attend Safe Nest 31st Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Luncheon, October 17 at 11:30 am in the Rio All-Suite Hotel, Miranda Room. Safe Nest is debuting a virtual tour of the shelter.
